GasOil, a company (www.gasoil.sk) that deals with oil and gas processing plants recently acquired Flownex to perform their thermodynamic and hydraulic analyses. They plan to use Flownex in as much of the following applications as possible to ensure their competitive advantage:
- Hydraulic analysis of complex (looped, branched) pipeline networks, flow of compressible, incompressible, isothermal, isentropic and eventually some other heat transfer models.
- Hydraulic and thermal analysis of natural gas regulating station and specifically the calculation of thermal energy input to the natural gas before its expansion to a particular pressure and given temperature.
- Hydraulic analysis of natural gas compressor station.
- Transient hydraulic analysis of pipeline networks, e.g. compressor shutdown and surge, opening and closing of a valve scenarios.
- Transient hydraulic analysis of pressurized pipeline network in case of pressure relieve (depressurization) of the network through a throttling valve or orifice to ambient conditions.
- Design and analyses of oil and natural gas transmission and distribution networks, compressor, pumping stations as well as the simulation and analyses of power plants.
- Two phase flow analysis.
- Combined cycle power plant (CCPP) analysis including
- Multiple pressure Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) modeling
- Several gas turbines and HRSG configuration
- Off design performance of CCPP
GasOil engineering attended the standard 3 day training course in South Afric during December 2009. To ensure that they can harnes the power of Flownex when they go back to their day to day activities, another 2 days of training was presented on GasOil specific applications. During the customised training the models specific to their application was presented and discussed during work sessions.
"We strongly believe that the best return on training investments is achieved when our partners are trained on content and applications they can relate to in their day to day environment. Case specific models created in the worksessions can then be improved and refined as soon as they return to work; immediately emporing them to provide solutions." Said Jean van der Merwe who is part of the dedicated Flownex technical support team.
After the training, time was also spent on relaxing and enjoying the beautiful South African weather and nature, as can be seen from the attached pictures taken during the visit to a local game farm.
About GasOil Engineering a.s.
GasOil Engineering, a.s., a member of group PBG, was established in 1998. With the entrance of the core group of engineers, it directly continued the tradition of its predecessor back to year 1975. We are part of history in oil and gas processing in Slovakia. Services provided by GasOil comprise out of 14 categories covering studies and assessing project feasibility, supervision during the commissioning and start-up.
"Knowledge is our most precious property and we have 150 highly qualified specialists. We put the same demands on ourselves as well as on the technical outfit of the company. In each moment we work with the best software used in our field. It enables us to enter into cooperation with the top companies in the world."
