IOG helps Roketsan take to the sky with Flownex
a) Experimental setup to be built.
b) The development of liquid fuel systems for rocket applications.
c) The propulsion systems in rocket applications containing copressor fed sequential tanks, controller supported system modelling for mass flow at nozzle outlet regulated with valves.
This high technology environment of design, development and optimization of thermal fluid systems is where Flownex can add exceptional value. The ability to simulate the system during the design phase assists the designer in making informed design decisions and understanding the thermo dynamic effect of design changes on a timely fashion. During commissioning of the plant the controllers can be designed in parallel to the plant being completed. When the plant is then started for the first time during commissioning the controllers only needs to be fine tuned. This results in an enormous time saving. The saved time can then rather be spent more productively on experimenting, analyzing and optimizing concepts and improvements on current designs of the thermal fluid system. Comparing the Flownex simulation with the actual plant data is invaluable in the analyses of the data and understanding the results, especially since temperature, pressure, velocity and other important variables can be provided by Flownex in between positions that are measured on the plant.
Any new correlations or models resulting from such research, design and optimization projects can be implemented in Flownex by means of user coding, user coded component models and/or re-usable compound component models that can be used by anyone in that specific company (especially since it may contain company IP).
“This is a very exciting opportunity and we look forward to work with Roketsan to help them harness the true power of Flownex.” comments Tiaan Dercksen, the Flownex development team program manager.
About Roketsan
Roketsan is a major Turkish weapons manufacturer and defense contractor based in the central Anatolian province of Ankara. Incorporated in 1988 by Turkey's Defense Industry Executive Committee (SSİK) in order to establish the nation's industrial base on rocket technology, the company has quickly rose to become one of Turkey's top 500 industrial establishments. Roketsan's current share holders include TSKGV (35.5%), Aselsan (15%), MKEK (15%), Kalekalip (10%), Vakiflar Bankasi (10%), Kutlutas (10%) and Havelsan (4.5%). Roketsan is best known for its vast range of unguided rockets as well as laser and infrared guided missiles such as Cirit and UMTAS.
